 Men’s Bible Study and More

The primary purpose of the “Men’s Bible Study and More” is to provide opportunities for Christian men to come together to pray, study the Bible, discuss issues and challenges we face as Christian men, to be in service and to have fun. The group meets on the first and third Wednesday each month (with some exceptions) at 7:00pm to engage in an Invitational Bible Study – based on the Gospel reading from the previous week’s service. This is a pretty informal group that is held together by a strong sense of camaraderie, friendship, mutual respect, fun and faith in Christ.

The group is engaged in several activities and missions which include:
 

• Annual Retreat - Each year in January, SHLC's men meet for a 2 day retreat at the Warm Beach Christian Retreat Center in Stanwood WA,  The weekend is  hosted by a variety of guest facilitators and includes stimulating bible study, individual growth, great fellowship and comradarie. The weekend is full of laughter and fun, with plenty of food. Its is time well spent communing with your fellow man and the Holy Spirit, learning, witnessing and sharing.
• Operation Nightwatch - On the first Wednesday of each month, in addition to Bible study, the group participates in our primary mission, which is serving a meal to homeless people in Seattle at Operation Nightwatch. This is a tradition that has been part of the men’s group for many years and provides an opportunity for us to serve Christ in a most basic way, by lending a hand to those less fortunate.
• Outings and Events
  
  
  • Aquasox - every summer, the men’s group organizes an annual Baseball Night outing to attend an Aquasox game
  • Golf Night – typically the group will sponsor one or two evening golf outings for anyone interested at a local course.
  • Pancake Breakfast – a few times a year the men get together and prepare a pancake breakfast for the congregation, usually as a fund-raiser for the youth group or other church related program.
  • Church Maintenance - While there is a facilities committee as part of the church council, the mens’ group takes on the responsibility for numerous maintenance, repair and improvement projects.

In a world full of distractions and challenges, Men’s BS and More provides a much needed source of support, and understanding through the Words and teachings of our Lord.
