Happy Holidays from the Youth at Shepherd of The Hills!!!

The Youth Group at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church offers middle and high school youth several different ways to become involved and to develop and nurture their Christian faith, values and spirituality.
Feed Your Faith - All middle and high school youth are invited to gather together one Sunday evening each month at church for food, fun and fellowship. Dinner is provided by church families and is followed by games, discussions and bible study. It's a blast and all are totally welcome.
Outings -Once a month we go and venture out into the world. We do amazingly fun activities and we always have a blast! This past years outings have included Sky High Sports, concerts, overnight retreats, lock-ins and even a trip to camp Lutherwood! All events are chaperoned and all youth are welcome and encouraged to bring friends!
Community Service - The youth have opportunities throughout the year to provide local community service. We participate in our church's Hot Meals Program which provides dinners to those in need at the Issaquah Community Center. We offer services to members of our congregation who might be in need of yard or house maintenance. We have participated in World Vision's 30-hour famine to raise money to fight global hunger. We have worked alongside Americore youth at constructions sites operated by Habitat for Humanity.
Confirmation - Confirmation is a two year program for 7th and 8th graders that allow them to learn about the church, the bible, and ultimately reaffirm their baptism. This year thy have the opportunity of go through our Confirmation Program with a new curriculum called Faith Incubators that has fun quizzes, skits and even some funny comics!
Missions - In several past summers we have had the opportunity to travel to a small impoverished village outside Tecate Mexico, just over the CA border, to build homes. In eight years of service there we have helped to build over 20 homes and have conducted Vacation Bible School for the local children. We are currently planning to return this summer (you can check the link for Mexico Mission Updates for further information). We have also participated in Camp Lutherwood's Servant Event program in Bellingham WA, which is a unique blend of general maintenance projects on the Lummi Nation Reservation. We hope to return again in the future.
