A Prayer Retreat for the Priesthood of All Believers: Men and Women Alike
October 5th and 19th, 9am to noon
Shepherd of the Hills invites you to attend one or both sessions of this prayer retreat.
Saturday morning, October 5th, led by The Reverend Karen Hanson
"Prayer is listening to the voice of the one who calls you beloved." ~Henri Nouwen
We will explore the way prayer changes and changes us as we grow. We will experience a variety of contemplative prayer practices including walking prayer and centering prayer; and reflect on the role of silence in listening as we deepen our relationship with "the one who calls you beloved."
Saturday morning, October 19th, led by The Reverend Paul Hoffman
The Church at Prayer
Gather with friends from Shepherd of the Hills and our larger community to discover and practice ways in which the community of believers has prayed since the earliest times and continues to do so into our own day. The group gathered on this day will hear from Paul about the church's practice of prayer, study together a familiar prayer or two from the church's liturgy, and finally write together the prayers of the people for the liturgy on Sunday, October 20th.
Although the prayer retreat sessions begin at 9am each Saturday, you are invited to come early. We will be ready to welcome you and refreshments will be available at 8:30am.
There will also be quiet space available between 8:30-9am if you’d like to journal or otherwise prepare for the day.
