Learn About Us

Our Community

God's Work, Our Hands Day of Service at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Sammamish, WA.

We are an engaged and committed group of people who desire to follow Jesus. Our parish isn’t gigantic, but we do have a GIANT message to share. We want others to know and share in the joy of God’s love and grace. You are welcome!

We are a community that truly cares about one another, and about welcoming others. Together we gather as young and old, seekers and believers, long-time Lutherans and new believers. Whether you are wondering about church and feel hesitant, or you’re steeped in church life and are eager to join in, you’ll be invited to belong here.

We are committed to lifelong learning for all ages, ministries that make a difference for our local neighbors, and outreach ministries that enable God’s work to be done throughout the earth. There is room for others who share God's vision of a new creation made possible in the death and resurrection of Jesus. Our Mission Statement captures this Gospel work to which we are called — Sharing God's Love With All.

Our History

Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church (ELCA) was organized February 21, 1988. The congregation worshipped at Trinity Lutheran College until facilities were constructed in 1995. The Fellowship Hall was added in 2005. Shepherd of the Hills is a vital congregation called to love and serve God and God’s people.

Pastor Debbie Boyce has been serving at Shepherd of the Hills since 2012. She finds great joy in being a parish pastor and is continually honored to see how God’s grace makes a difference in people’s lives. She is inspired to see how these very people are eager to share God’s grace with others. She is excited to be a part of the creative ideas and energy with which this parish’s holy work is carried out.

Our Beliefs

Easter service at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Sammamish, WA.

We believe that together we become...

  • A worshipping community celebrating the grace of God in Word and Sacrament. We strive for worship services that are relatable and relevant so that we will know and trust God’s grace.
  • A caring and sharing community using our gifts and resources for all so that we are more present in our neighborhood. We value listening to one another and our neighbors so that we experience a deeper connection to God’s people.
  • A learning community growing in faith and understanding of God’s word so that we are tuned in to hear God’s promise of steadfast love and mercy given in Jesus Christ. Questions and wrestling with scripture are encouraged.
  • A serving community reaching out with Christ’s love so that we can bring God’s healing and hope to the places of need and brokenness.
